Warsaw/Bratislava – Slovak President Peter Pellegrini called for a fight against overregulation at the European level in Warsaw on Tuesday. He made the statement during a speech at the business forum of the Three Seas Initiative summit, which was opened by Polish President Andrzej Duda. This was reported by the Warsaw correspondent of TASR.
“We have a great mission ahead of us, we must collectively fight against overregulation at the European level because overregulation kills innovation,” said Pellegrini.
The Slovak president pointed out that the Three Seas countries make up nearly a quarter of the EU’s population, a third of its territory, and are experiencing rapid economic growth compared to the rest of the Union. He therefore urged those present to have greater optimism, pride, and self-confidence.
According to Pellegrini, it is essential to ensure good connectivity in the region through quality railway and highway infrastructure. He also emphasized the need to increase energy capacities, as new technologies require large amounts of continuously available energy. In this context, he mentioned the ongoing construction of new nuclear blocks in Slovakia and stressed that the country considers nuclear energy to be a green source.
Pellegrini thanked President Andrzej Duda, entrepreneurs, and companies, which he believes will shape the future of their countries and regions. According to him, the Three Seas region is experiencing one of the highest rates of return on investment in the EU, making it an attractive place for foreign investments.
At the end of his speech, the President of Slovakia emphasized that in addition to research and innovation, the massive implementation of new solutions into practice is also crucial. (April 29)
