ZAGREB – Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and President of the European Council Antonio Costa discussed on Tuesday the progress of Western Balkan countries towards European Union membership, the prime minister announced on social network X.
“Ahead of the @EUCouncil meeting and the EU-Western Balkans summit next week in Brussels, I spoke via phone with @eucopresident Antonio Costa. I conveyed Croatia’s positions regarding the progress of Western Balkan countries in the negotiation process for European Union membership. We also discussed the importance of continuing support for #Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East,” Plenković announced.
The European Union and Western Balkan countries summit will be held on December 18 in Brussels.
The new President of the European Council officially assumed office on December 1, and two days later met with the leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, and Kosovo, telling them that the future of these countries is in the European Union.
