Skopje – As the EU Delegation, we will focus on helping North Macedonia deliver reforms; however, there is a great momentum in the enlargement process that you need to seize, said today the Euro ambassador Michalis Rokas after his visit to Kumanovo.
– In Bulgaria, there is a new government, that is a fact, and we have seen the messages exchanged to congratulate the new government; we welcome this, said Rokas, in response to a journalist’s question about whether, following the election of a new government in Sofia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria are expected to sit at the table to resolve the issue and whether the EU would find itself in the role of a mediator in that process.
Rokas reminded that there is an intensive diplomatic activity for the Eurointegration of the country. – The Prime Minister has already been to Brussels twice in December, so there is intense diplomatic activity at this moment; however, parallel with these diplomatic efforts to overcome the issue with Bulgaria, our focus will be to concentrate on implementing and delivering the reforms arising from the Reform Agenda recently adopted by your Government, emphasized the Euro ambassador.
Regarding expectations for the Western Balkans with the entry of the new American administration, Rokas says that any initiative to promote the path to the EU is welcome.
– It is not for me to comment on the Prime Minister’s visit to the USA, but the USA is a very important contributor and partner of the country, and any initiative coming from the other side of the Atlantic, aiming to advance the eurointegration process of the state, is more than welcome, assessed the Euro ambassador.
