ZAGREB – Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič discussed the implementation of the EU Green Plan, the possibilities of linking the green transition with economic growth, strengthening competitiveness, and future priorities of the European Commission in this regard, according to a statement from the Government.
“The conversation focused on the implementation of the EU Green Plan, linking the green transition with economic growth and strengthening competitiveness, and future priorities of the European Commission in this regard, with an emphasis on energy prices, the use of renewable energy sources, and trade and industrial policy,” the statement said.
The contribution to the implementation of the green transition goals through the EU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, which Croatia is effectively utilizing through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NPOO), was also highlighted, the statement added.
Plenković informed Šefčovič about the positive economic trends in Croatia and emphasized that the Government’s priorities, in addition to the green and digital transition, are addressing demographic challenges and affordable housing issues.
The two interlocutors agreed that further actions are needed for effective communication regarding the green transition and the economic opportunities it brings. (July 12, 2024)
