BRATISLAVA – Eurofunds from the programming period 2014-2020 have been fully utilized by Slovakia. This was stated by the Minister of Investment, Regional Development, and Informatization Richard Raši (Hlas-SD) after the government’s meeting on Thursday. In the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP), the fund utilization was even over 100% because the previous government signed contracts exceeding the allocated financial resources. In total, Slovakia could utilize 13.7 billion euros from the Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund.
“Utilization in the programming period for the years 2014-2020 will be record-breaking in the history of eurofunds in Slovakia. Since the new government took office, in less than seven months, 2.7 billion euros have been utilized, pushing the eurofund utilization from 84% to more than 100%,” said Raši. Currently, administrative checks are still being carried out, which are always standard after the end of a eurofund period. Raši admitted that certain shifts in the amount of utilized funds could occur during the reviews. “But we can conclude that everything was really done in the last months and weeks to ensure that the European funds from the 2014-2020 programming period were utilized,” he added.
