Ljubljana – Slovenian parliament members have approved a bill to expedite the implementation processes for projects of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) in Slovenia and cross-border projects. Among other things, the law defines priority projects for the TEN-T network in Slovenia, shortens procedures related to their construction, upgrades, adaptation or change of projects, and public procurement for them.
“The aim of the act is to establish a reliable, uninterrupted, and high-quality transport network that will ensure that Slovenia also contributes to the sustainable transport connectivity of Europe. The goal is for the transport network to be free of physical interruptions, bottlenecks, and missing links,” explained the State Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure Andrej Rajh at last Friday’s session of the National Assembly’s Committee for Infrastructure.
Among other things, the law, with which Slovenia transposes EU legislation on the Trans-European Transport Network into national law, will bring better and faster connections for passenger and freight transport, as well as better integration of ports, airports, and multimodal freight terminals into the TEN-T network, according to him.
In the field of road transport, it will accelerate all core network projects, which must have so-called two separate driving lanes. It will ensure safe and secure parking areas on the core and extended core network to provide better working conditions and rest for professional drivers. (July 10)
