Oxford – The Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an agreement on security cooperation and long-term support between the two countries for a period of ten years on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit near Oxford. As Golob emphasized at the signing, the agreement is an important proof of strong and continuous support for Ukraine.
Slovenia, with the agreement, commits to exploring all possibilities to continue providing the necessary security and defense support to Ukraine. In the years 2022, 2023, and 2024, Slovenia supplied Ukraine with 13 packages of military aid. It plans to provide the same level of assistance this year and in the coming years, according to the agreement.
At the same time, Slovenia has committed to contributing an additional five million euros this year for humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as for the Grain from Ukraine program and for mitigating the effects of the war in Ukraine on food security.
The agreement also includes the condemnation of Russian aggression and unwavering support from Slovenia for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as a commitment to shared values, from democracy to the protection of human rights and freedoms. The two countries also note that Ukraine and Europe will not be safe until a just and lasting peace is established, respecting Ukraine’s rights under international law.
The countries confirm their commitment to investigating accountability for crimes committed in or against Ukraine, including the crime of aggression. They also agree that Russia must be held accountable for the losses or damage caused to Ukraine and that Russia is financially responsible for the long-term reconstruction of Ukraine. (July 18)
