Brussels/Ljubljana – The European Commission today gave a preliminary positive assessment of the third request for payment of funds from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. Slovenia expects funds from this source in the amount of 257.7 million euros still this year, according to the Office for Recovery and Resilience. An opinion from the Economic and Financial Committee is still needed before the final decision.
Slovenia sent the third request for payment of funds from the recovery mechanism after the corona crisis to Brussels at the end of June. The request includes 141.6 million euros in grants and 116.1 million euros in loans.
Upon receiving these funds, Slovenia will have recorded 41 percent of the available funds, or 1.1 billion euros, of which 673 million euros are grants and 426 million euros are loans. A total of 64 milestones and targets, or 31 percent of the overall 205 milestones and targets, will be officially fulfilled.
The country has already paid out over 535 million euros to final recipients for completed project activities. Numerous activities for the digital and green transition have been carried out. More than 1,000 projects are completed, underway, or about to start, reminded the Office for Recovery and Resilience.
“We must realize that behind every milestone and target there is a lot of work, consultations, and coordination with stakeholders at both the national and European levels. The efforts of ministry employees and the Office for Recovery and Resilience to implement the planned reforms and investments on time are exceptional. Our common goal remains the same – the maximum utilization of available funds,” said Finance Minister Klemen Boštjančič.
For the implementation of investments and reforms from the interim revised recovery plan, Slovenia has 1.61 billion euros in grants and 1.07 billion euros in loans available from this mechanism until the end of 2026. (September 16)
