Sweden is sending 13 diesel-powered backup power plants to Ukraine to help the country with its electricity supply.
“The backup power plants can be used when such a terrible attack occurs from Russia’s side as it did against the children’s hospital just recently to be able to maintain the power supply,” says Minister of Energy and Business Ebba Busch (KD).
According to Busch, it is not part of a previously announced package, but an independent decision made by the government after being contacted by Svenska Kraftnät, which is now making its third shipment to Ukraine.
In recent months, Russian missile attacks have targeted Ukrainian power plants. The consequences have been a shortage of electricity and several power outages.
