Fifteen EU countries are allowed to over-spend on defence

In line with one of the measures proposed in the EU Commission’s ‘Readiness 2030’ plan, the EU member states in question may now spend an additional 1.5 percent of GDP on defence without facing penalties under the EU’s strict debt and deficit rules.
