The European Commission announced that it will respond “strongly” to “unjustified barriers to free and fair trade” after U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he will soon announce the imposition of 25% tariffs on imports from the EU.
“The EU will respond strongly and immediately against unjustified barriers to free and fair trade, even when tariffs are used to challenge legitimate and impartial policies,” a Commission spokesperson said when asked to comment on Trump’s statements.
“The European Union is the largest free market in the world. And it has benefited the United States,” he added. (27/2/2025)
