Strasbourg, France) – The general directorate of the European Parliament responsible for cybersecurity will move from Brussels to Strasbourg in 2025, according to a parliamentary source, confirming an online daily La Lettre report.
The decision to relocate this general directorate to the Alsace metropolis, which already houses the Risks and Threats of Cybersecurity unit, was made on December 16 by the European Parliament’s bureau, the source added.
For its part, the European Parliament’s communication service only confirmed to AFP a “reorganization” of the Directorate-General for Innovation and Technological Support (ITEC), of which cybersecurity is one of the responsibilities, “from April 1, 2025”.
The European Parliament has two seats, in Brussels and Strasbourg. French MEPs regularly fight to strengthen the Strasbourg seat, the only one of the European institutions located in France, and whose interest is regularly questioned in Brussels. (December 24, 2024)
