Sarajevo (Fena) – Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nenad Nešić announced the holding of the Sarajevo Migration Dialogue on Jahorina, a key event dedicated to regional cooperation in migration management. This event, which brings together representatives of governments, international organizations, and experts, aims to foster cooperation and find common solutions to the migration challenges faced by Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans region.
Minister Nešić placed special emphasis on the nearly completed negotiations with the European Union on the agreement with FRONTEX, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.
– I am pleased to highlight that we have strategically completed almost the entire process of signing the agreement with the EU concerning FRONTEX. Only technical details and procedural actions remain, and I believe the agreement will soon be politically confirmed in the competent institutions of BiH – said Nešić.
Minister Nešić particularly emphasized the importance of the presence of Henrik Nielsen, Director for Schengen, Borders, and Visas at the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission (DG HOME).
– For our negotiation process, the presence of Mr. Nielsen is extremely important. His dedication and support, as well as the support of his colleagues and the entire DG HOME, are invaluable for the successful implementation of this and other processes that we are jointly realizing with our European partners – stressed Nešić.
The Sarajevo Migration Dialogue will enable discussion on key migration issues, including regional cooperation, combating human trafficking, strengthening return and readmission policies, and the role of the European Union in migration management in the Western Balkans. (18.9.)
