Washington – Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob explained on the sidelines of the NATO summit that he has no particular understanding for the recent visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Regarding possible actions against Budapest, he said that time should be given time.
As Golob said about the visit of the Hungarian Prime Minister to Moscow, he did not notice an understanding for Orban’s “unilateral actions” among his colleagues in the European Union.
“I also don’t have much understanding, even less so when someone presents themselves as speaking on behalf of the European Union or allows others to interpret it that way. There is no difference for me,” said the Prime Minister.
He expressed the belief that there will be a lot of discussion about this. Regarding possible actions and boycotting informal ministerial meetings that Hungary will host as part of the presidency of the EU Council, he said that time should be given time.
After Hungary took over the presidency of the EU Council at the beginning of the month, Orban made an unannounced visit to Kyiv, Moscow, and Beijing. In the Russian capital, he met with President Vladimir Putin, which received many criticisms in Brussels and EU member states, as well as in Ukraine. After the NATO summit in Washington, he also visited former US President and Republican candidate in the November elections, Donald Trump, in Florida. (July 11)
