The Slovenian candidate for European Commissioner Marta Kos will take over the enlargement portfolio in the new commissioner team, which is considered a success for Slovenia and recognition in the international community according to Prime Minister Robert Golob. On Wednesday, the Parliamentary Committee on EU Affairs will nonetheless discuss the appointment of Kos.
STRASBOURG (ANP) – MEP Tineke Strik (GroenLinks-PvdA) calls the Dutch request for an opt-out on asylum and migration policy “an illusion”. PVV Minister Marjolein Faber (Asylum and Migration) officially submitted a request for an exemption from the usual asylum rules to the European Commission on Wednesday.

BRUSSELS (ANP) – The EU rules for asylum and migration “remain binding for the Netherlands”, emphasizes a spokesperson for the European Commission. This remains the case until a possible amendment of the EU treaty. The spokesperson says this in an initial response to the Dutch request for an exception to the asylum policy, during a daily press conference.
Síkela stated on social media that the portfolio of international partnerships provides an opportunity to focus on strengthening European economic security, diversifying suppliers of critical raw materials, and opening new markets to European companies.
