The European Newsroom (enr) accompanied European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and other Commissioners on a visit to Ukraine to mark the third-year anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country.
Since 24 February 2022, Russia has been waging a war against Ukraine. The invasion has cost countless lives. The economic damage is also enormous.
Ukraine faces pressure to negotiate with Russia on the third anniversary of President Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion. Europe meanwhile tries to rally to Ukraine’s side with the noticeable absence of the United States.
On the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion on Ukraine, EU leaders are in Kiev to show support. “We are in Kyiv today, because Ukraine is Europe”, Ursula von der Leyen wrote on X.
On the third anniversary of Russia’s attack on Ukraine the EU is once again demonstrating its support for the embattled country. By travelling to Ukraine the EU leaders are also sending a signal to Washington.
